DRAWING CLASS
by Luci Eyers
EVERY DAY FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY
10.00 – 13.00
These drawing workshops have two intentions: to look more closely at Marvão through drawing, as we wander, look, and listen; and to consider ways of translating between sound and a visual form of mark making.
In the first half of each workshop we will amble through part of the town notating visual details that catch our attention and listening to the ambient sounds.
Back in the Casa da Cultura we will work with a musician to develop a range of visual responses to match their instrument and the range of sounds they play. The aim is to develop intuitive visual impressions rather than any literal notation.
Through these drawing exercises we can explore different ways a pencil can be used to respond to the landscape and soundscape through sketching, notation, and mark making.
Maximum participants per class: 10
Materials will be provided / No experience necessary / Participants over 16 years old.
Free participation upon registration on

She works predominantly in watercolour with images sourced from her imagination, however looking at drawing in its widest sense has always been an important part of her practice. Drawing and a sense of line are core to her work.

“Nimbus and the Riddle of the Missing Music”
by ANA LUÍSA PLENO RAJÃO (in Portuguese)
Have you ever imagined a silent world where you try to sing and nothing comes out?
Nimbus lives a normal dog’s life during the year, but as soon as his Owner goes on vacation, he assumes his AAE code name (Always Alert, Easy!), as Nimbus is an international super agent.
Due to a pandemic caused by a highly contagious virus, Nimbus’ holidays, which were usually spent in Spain, are now taken in Alentejo. However, something bizarre is happening in the village of Marvão, where AAE is going to spend his holidays: the music has disappeared!
MARKUS STOCKHAUSEN GROUP
MARKUS STOCKHAUSEN, FLUGELHORN / TRUMPET
ANGELO COMISSO, PIANO / SYNTH
JÖRG BRINKMANN, CELLO
CHRISTIAN THOMÉ, DRUMS
The music of the Markus Stockhausen Group is clearly shaped by the roots of European art music. Stockhausen’s compositions form a harmonious synthesis with the art of improvisation with a lightness, a kind of playfulness, strong emotional expressions and also sometimes humorous. Open passages allow spontaneous creations.
