GUIDED TOUR
(in Portuguese and in English)

“Journey to Marvão in the 17th century, during the Restoration War”

On a relaxed walk through the village, we try to answer, as far as possible, questions we often ask ourselves when visiting fortified places like this one; for example: “What would Marvão have been like in the 17th century, during the war?”

DRAWING CLASS
by Luci Eyers

EVERY DAY FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY
10.00 – 13.00

These drawing workshops have two intentions: to look more closely at Marvão through drawing, as we wander, look, and listen; and to consider ways of translating between sound and a visual form of mark making.

In the first half of each workshop we will amble through part of the town notating visual details that catch our attention and listening to the ambient sounds.

Back in the Casa da Cultura we will work with a musician to develop a range of visual responses to match their instrument and the range of sounds they play. The aim is to develop intuitive visual impressions rather than any literal notation.

Through these drawing exercises we can explore different ways a pencil can be used to respond to the landscape and soundscape through sketching, notation, and mark making.

Maximum participants per class: 8

Materials will be provided / No experience necessary / Participants over 16 years old.

Free participation upon registration on
info@marvaomusic.com

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Same-day or on-site registrations will not be accepted. All participants must confirm their attendance in advance and exclusively via the e-mail provided. It will not be possible to attend the activity without confirmed prior registration, nor to accompany registered participants.
